Sam Smith, the British soul-singing sensation, has cancelled his Sunday night show in Toronto.

The 22-year-old, who became famous in 2012 for his vocals on the track “Latch” by Disclosure, was supposed to perform at 8 p.m. at the Kool Haus.

He posted a note on Twitter and Instagram this afternoon that said he woke up with tonsillitis on Saturday and it was so bad by Sunday that he couldn’t speak.

The note says he will reschedule the show.

Many fans Tweeted about their disappointment, including some who said they had travelled from western Canada just to see the concert.

Smith’s new album, In The Lonely Hour, is currently the best-selling album in the U.K., according to Billboard.

There's no word yet on whether Smith will go ahead with Wedensday's planned show in Vancouver.
