Toronto weekend road closures are getting an early start, as the city prepares for several major events on Friday evening.

Closures for events

WorldPride 2014 launches Friday night with an event that will affect several roads in the vicinity of Toronto City Hall.

The following roads will be closed from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday:

  • Bay Street, from Queen Street to Dundas Street;
  • Hagerman Street, Elizabeth Street to Bay Street;
  • Elizabeth Street, from Dundas Street to Hagerman Street;
  • Albert Street, from Bay Street to James Street;
  • James Street, from Queen Street to Albert Street.

Yonge Street will also be completely closed from Dundas Street to Queen Street between 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday. The intersection of Yonge and Shuter Streets will remain open to allow access to the Eaton Centre parking lot.

The TTC's 6 Bay bus line will also be redirected due to the closures.

 

Don Valley Parkway closures

From Lawrence Avenue to Wynford Drive, the southbound let lane and one shoulder northbound of the DVP will be occupied as crews repair a sign on Sautday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

 

Gardiner Expressway closures

Until Monday, July 21, eastbound and westbound left lanes will be occupied by median reconstruction crews from Ellis Avenue to Dufferin Street every day from midnight to noon.

Eastbound and westbound shoulder lanes will be occupied by long-term construction on the centre median from Park Lawn Road to Humber River, every day until Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The off-ramp from the espressway to Sherbourne will be closed for concrete removal, every day 11:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. until Friday, June 27.

 

Lake Shore Boulevard closures

The westbound passing lane will be occupied from Rees Street to Van De Water Crescent by tunnel construction from 9 a.m. to midnight every day until the end of February 2015.

Westbound and eastbound, Lake Shore will be down to one lane at a time between Yonge St. and Windermere Ave. 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until Tuesday, July 15.

Until Sunday, Aug. 31, one lane eastbound and one lane westbound will be occupied due to TTC Leslie Street Connection Track Project, 24 hours a day.

Two lanes each eastbound and westbound will be occupied due to overhead Gardiner repairs from 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. every day until Friday, June 27.

Westbound lanes From Park Lawn Road to Humber River, westbound lanes will be occupied by construction 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Wednesday, July 30.

 

TTC closures and diversions

Bloor-Danforth subway service between St. George and Pape is opening late for rail installation on Sunday. Trains will be turning back westbound at St. George Station and eastbound at Pape Station until noon.

Before noon, shuttle buses will run between the subway stations at street level.

The 5 Avenue Road and 94 Wellesley buses will be diverting for the Ride/Walk to Conquer Cancer on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
