Several scheduled road closures mean those travelling in the city would be better off taking transit this weekend.

Major road closures

The Allen Road will be closed all weekend for movement of the Metrolinx tunnel boring machines. The City of Toronto will also use the opportunity to perform spring maintenance on the roadway.

The closure will be in effect from Sheppard Avenue to Eglinton Avenue from Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. A section from Lawrence Avenue to Eglinton will close two hours earlier on Friday night.

During the closure, drivers can use Dufferin and Bathurst Streets as alternatives.

Events closures

The Toronto Yonge Street 10K run means some roads will be closed to vehicles for several hours. Yonge will be closed between Lawrence and Erskine Avenues from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.

From 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Yonge will also be closed between Castlefield Avenue and Richmond Street. Richmond will be closed from Yonge to Peter Street. Peter will be closed between Richmond and Front Street. Front will be closed between Peter/Blue Jays Way and Bathurst Street. Bathurst will be closed from Front to Fort York Boulevard, and Fort York will be closed from Bathurst to Fleet Street.

Intersections will be open to traffic except when runners are passing through. Bayview Avenue and Avenue Road are alternate routes for drivers.

Lake Shore Boulevard closures

The intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard and Carlaw Avenue will be partially closed from Friday at 8 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. for urgent repairs. The westbound lane of Lake Shore will be closed at Carlaw and drivers will be detoured north to Eastern Avenue or Queen Street East. Westbound traffic can access Lake Shore west of Morse Street. At least one lane of eastbound traffic on Lake Shore will be available to drivers at all times.

Southbound traffic on Carlaw will be diverted at Queen Street East. Northbound traffic will be permitted to turn right and travel eastbound on Lake Shore.

Two westbound and two eastbound lanes will be occupied at Leslie Street all day, every day due to a TTC project.

The northbound and southbound left lanes on Park Lawn Road will be occupied due to road widening, resurfacing, sidewalk construction and sanitary-sewer replacement from midnight to noon until June 30.

The westbound curb lane at Park Lawn Road will be occupied due to sidewalk construction and road widening from midnight to noon until June 30.

Gardiner Expressway closures

Two lanes of the westbound Gardiner are occupied all day, every day until Aug. 1, between Spadina Avenue and Park Lawn Road. Eastbound, two lanes will be occupied from Park Lawn Road to the Humber River.

The Gardiner will be reduced to two lanes between Jameson Avenue and Bathurst Street due to ongoing repairs, all day every day until June 1.
