TOP STORIES:

  • One man is in hospital with serious injuries following an early morning shooting near Hurontario and Burnhamthorpe in Mississauga.
  • Toronto police officer Constable James Forcillo, convicted of attempted murder in the streetcar shooting death of Sammy Yatim, will be sentenced today.
  •  Peel Regional Police are investigating following a convenience store robbery in Mississauga overnight. Police say the suspect may be armed with a gun.

WEATHER WATCH:

A mix of sun and cloud is in the forecast this morning with a slight chance of rain or thunderstorms early this evening. A high of 29 is expected, feeling like 35 with humidity.  

TRAFFIC WOES:

  • North and southbound curb lanes on Broadview Avenue from Danforth Avenue to O Connor Drive are closed until 4:00PM due to road resurfacing.
  • The intersection of College Street and Lansdowne Avenue will remain closed until August 8 due to streetcar track replacement.

AROUND TOWN:

  • The King and Queen Show takes place at Lamport Stadium tonight at 5:00PM as part of Toronto Caribbean Carnival celebrations.
  • Cirque Du Soleil’s LUZIA opens at the Toronto Port Lands tonight, running through October 16.
