A man in his 20s is in critical condition following a shooting outside a strip club in Etobicoke early Tuesday morning.

The man was shot in the head and leg shortly before 3 a.m. outside of the House of Lancaster Gentlemen’s Club on Penhurst Avenue, near The Queensway and Royal York Road.

More than 10 shots were fired, including one that went through the storm door of a house across the street.

It’s not the first such incident near the club.

In fact, several paid-duty police officers were acting as security at the event on Monday night -- hired to keep watch because of gunfire in the past, including shots fired in August.

Neighbours told CTV that they are fed up.

City councillor Justin Di Ciano, who represents the ward, says he wants an investigation into whether the club is following provincial liquor license rules.

“To see this coming from the same establishment time in and time out,” he says, “is upsetting.”

Police said they had to restrain some of the victim's friends, who will be interviewed by investigators.

They are looking for witnesses who fled the area after the shooting, and have several suspects.

Penhurst Avenue was closed on Tuesday morning between The Queensway and Dalesford Road as police investigated. Shell casings from a semi-automatic pistol were found in the area, police said.

Representatives of the club said that the event on Monday was put on by promoters.

They say future events, including a New Year’s Eve party, will go ahead.
