Toronto police have determined a grenade found in a building under construction downtown was a replica.

The call came in Tuesday morning, in the Jarvis Street and Isabella Street area, after contractors found the device.

Emergency crews evacuated the building downtown after work crews discovered what looked like a grenade, police say.

After investigating, crews determined the device was a replica.

Jarvis Street was closed between Wellesley Street East and Charles Street but has since reopened.
