The search for Jeffrey Boucher resumed briefly Friday, but has been called off due to the weather.

The Toronto Police Marine Unit had been called in to assist Durham Police in their search of an area near the Whitby Pier, in the vicinity of Water Street and South Blair Street.

But in a mid-morning tweet, Durham Regional Police said the water search has been put off until next week, "Due to high winds and unsafe ground conditions."

In a statement, Durham Police Sgt. Nancy van Rooy added that there have been no major new developments in their investigation.

"The scheduled search today was a routine investigative avenue to explore all investigative options," Van Rooy said.

Police began searching for Boucher on Jan. 14, the day after his family reported him missing.

A week later, having found no sign of the 52-year-old, police said they were scaling back their search.

"We are truly stumped," Durham Regional Police Det. Sgt. Mitch Martin told reporters on Tuesday.

Boucher is described as white, six feet tall, 180 pounds with short grey and white hair. Relatives say he was likely wearing a dark running jacket and dark pants when he left his house on Jan. 13.
