Toronto police say the remains found at a waste transfer station in North York on Friday were that of a bear.
An employee at the Dufferin Transfer and Recycling Facility called police after discovering what was believed to be a hand on the facility’s conveyer belt shortly before 11:30 a.m.
The organic matter was taken to Toronto’s Centre of Forensic Sciences for further testing, where investigators determined the remains belonged to a bear.
The waste transfer station, located in the Finch Avenue West and Avenue Road area, was closed on Friday.
