Nearly three dozen people have been arrested as a result of a police investigation dubbed "Project Pharaoh."

Officers said 50 search warrants were executed across southern Ontario early Thursday morning, in an area spanning from Barrie to Hamilton, and 32 people were arrested as a result.

The police investigation resulted in the seizure of guns, drugs and a large quantity of cash, police said.

Toronto Police Insp. Bryan Bott provided the following numbers at a news conference on Friday:

  • 700 police officers involved in the investigation
  • 50 search warrants executed on Thursday
  • 45 people arrested and charged on Thursday, facing a combined total of 379 charges
  • Overall, more than 60 people have been arrested and 93 warrants executed
  • Several people outstanding
  • Total street value of the drugs seized is $3.8 million
  • 14 firearms seized
  • 15 vehicles seized
  • $196,000 Canadian and $1,800 U.S.
