Harry Potter pandemonium hit the streets of Toronto Wednesday with the red-carpet arrival of one of the stars from "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.''

Screaming teenage girls lined the streets outside a downtown theatre, anxious to get a look at Rupert Grint who plays Potter's best friend, Ron Weasley.

Fans cried, screamed and waved homemade signs as Grint arrived on the red carpet.

"Oh my god, I can't believe I got a picture with him," one teenage girl exclaimed to CTV News.

Grint, 18, said he appreciated all the attention but confessed he never gets used to it.

"It's crazy,'' Grint told CTV News outside the theatre."Coming to these things is quite overwhelming. It's really really good, but it's quite hard getting recognized. It's hard to sort of get my head around."

Grint is making his first appearance in Canada and said the country's fans have been exceptionally supportive.

"It's really cool,'' he said." It's really good to see everyone sort of excited about the film and stuff.''

The British native said the movie was a lot of fun to make, but warned that children should be wary.

"This one is really dark; it's more like a horror film," Grint said.

Parents accompanying their children to the film on Wednesday said the movie was suitable for most kids.

"I was a little worried, and it was scary but not to the point where they went over-the-top Hollywood. I thought it was still a family friendly movie," one parent said outside a downtown theatre.

Despite being one of the film's stars, Grint said he has to wait along with everyone else to find out what happens in the final installment of the popular series.

The latest and final book will hit stores on July 21.

"I don't know anything. I mean, she (J.K. Rowling)/> comes to the set occasionally and we've met her a few times but she doesn't give anything away. We're really excited actually, it's going to be really cool," Grint said.

One lucky Toronto fan is set to meet Rowling in London after winning a contest sponsored by Raincoast books.

Matthew Pincin, 9, will travel to England with his mother and join more than 1,700 fans next Friday for a midnight book signing at the Natural History Museum.

More than 15,000 Canadian Potter fans entered the contest, with Pincin walking away as the winner.

Pincin told CTV News he's going to ask Rowling why the seventh Potter installment has to be the last. He also has some predictions for the fate of the boy wizard.

"I think Harry Potter is going to kill Voldemort instead of Voldemort killing Harry Potter because a lot of people are saying that Harry Potter is going to die, but I don't really think he's going to die," Pincin said.
