A 27-year-old man has been rushed to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries following a shooting in the city’s west end.

According to police, the man was walking near Queen's Plate Drive and Rexdale Boulevard when an unknown assailant approached him, pulled out a firearm and shot him in the stomach at around 3:40 a.m.

The victim then made his way to the parking lot of the nearby Woodbine Racetrack where he was located by police.

He is currently undergoing emergency surgery.

No suspect information is available at this point.
