OTTAWA - Police in Ottawa are asking for help from the public in tracking down a dog that was stolen from a senior's car.

Police say the elderly woman left her pet in the car while she went into a store on the night of Oct. 10.

Investigators say the woman was in the store for less than 10 minutes.

The dog is described as a three-year-old white haired Yorkie-Pekinese mixture.

The dog -- which police describe as the woman's companion -- is named Meiko.

The suspect is described as a white man, who was wearing a black coat and was seen leaving a silver or beige SUV.
