TORONTO -- Toronto police are seeking a suspect in connection with a stabbing incident that left a man dead and a woman injured.

Police say it happened at about 10 p.m. Tuesday after a male suspect entered an apartment (in the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue) where the man and woman were inside.

It's alleged both the man and the woman were stabbed and police say the woman fled and was chased by the suspect but managed to get away.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene but police have not yet released his name, saying his family has yet to be notified.

The woman, who police say is in her early 30s, suffered stab wounds to her arms and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they do not yet have a motive for the attack but they say it was not random and that the three people all knew one another.

"Exactly what went on in that apartment we're not sure yet," said Det. Sgt. Steve Ryan.

The suspect is described as a white male with very short blond hair and blue eyes, about five feet six to five feet eight and about 175 pounds. He was wearing a light blue, long-sleeved shirt with an orange collar and blue jeans.

Ryan says anyone with information is urged to contact police.
