Police have released security footage of an assault that happened in Vaughan earlier this month, hoping the public can identify a suspect.

Investigators said the 14-year-old victim was working at a banquet hall in Vaughan on Nov. 8 at the time of the incident.

Shortly after midnight, he approached a group of wedding guests who were outside of the building with alcohol. He asked them to come back inside with their drinks, and was head-butted by one of the male guests.

The teenaged boy had to be transported to hospital with serious injuries. York Regional Police said the suspect fled the scene prior to their arrival.

The black-and-white video released Wednesday shows the assault, which was captured by a surveillance camera. Police hope that the public will watch the video and recognize the suspect.

He has been described as a white male, who is approximately six feet tall. He's between the ages of 25 and 35, with short, dark hair.

Anyone who witnessed the event or recognizes the suspect is asked to contact police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7441, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
