One year after nine-year-old Kesean Williams was shot to death while playing a video game in his Brampton home, Peel Regional Police have released surveillance camera footage captured on the day he was shot.

In the 20-second video, someone who police identify as a person of interest is seen running from the scene shortly after the shooting. The video also shows Williams at a YMCA with his mother hours before he was killed.

The Brampton boy was killed on Jan. 23, 2013 when a bullet, fired into his family’s townhouse on Ardglen Drive, near Kenney Road South and Clarent Street, struck him in the back of the head. He was rushed to Sick Kids Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Williams' mother and his 15-year-old brother were home at the time of the shooting, but were not harmed. His family had just moved into the townhouse just a few days before the shooting.

Investigators say they do not believe the bullet that killed Williams was a stray shot, but that the home was targeted. Police say evidence confirms the shooter was standing outside the window when the gun was fired.

"We’re still working on leads to confirm who that shot was meant for and why," Insp. George Koekkoek said.

No arrests have been made in the case as police continue to investigate the shooting.

Police on Thursday also announced a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
