Police have released a sketch of a man wanted in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in North York.

According to police, the teen was walking southbound on Welsford Gardens, just west of Victoria Park Avenue, on July 2 at approximately 8:30 a.m. when she was approached by an unknown man.

"The unknown man placed his left arm around her right shoulder and threatened her, if she tried to escape," police said in a news release on Monday.

The man and the victim continued walking southbound, before she was sexually assaulted, police say.

The man then let the teen go near Welsford Gardens and Rowena Drive. Police say he fled westbound in between a row of townhouses.
