TORONTO - Toronto police say a constable has been charged in a downtown crash.

Police say they were called to a collision on Adelaide Street East (near Jarvis Street) around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

They say one of the drivers took off.

Const. Brandon Polak, 35, is charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident.

Police say he has been with the force 13 years and works on the drug squad.

They say he was off duty at the time of the alleged incident.
