Toronto police are looking to speak with a driver who helped stop an attack on a woman under a bridge in the Christie Pits area over the weekend.

The incident happened at around 2 a.m. on Oct. 16.

A woman was walking under a CN Rail bridge in the Christie and Dupont streets area when she passed a man who tried to grab her purse.

The woman told police that the man covered her mouth when she tried to scream, and then sexually assaulted her and took her purse.

The man let the woman go when a driver in a passing car flashed the high beams.

The suspect is described as a man in his late 20s or early 30s. He’s described as black, with a dark complexion and a medium build. He was wearing a grey hoodie.

Investigators are looking to speak with the driver or anyone else who has information about the incident. Police are asking anyone with information to call 416-808-1300 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
