Toronto police say they are looking for a 22-year-old man in connection with a fatal stabbing in the city’s downtown core over the weekend.

Rameez Khalid, 19, was attacked near Richmond and York streets at around 2 a.m. Sunday as thousands roamed the streets for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche.

Police say the attack followed an earlier altercation between a group with Khalid and another group at an impromptu outdoor rave on University Avenue south of Queen Street.

Emanuel Lozada, of Toronto, is wanted for second-degree murder in connection with the case.

“We searched numerous addresses looking for him this morning and we have not been able to locate him as of yet,” Det. Scott Whittemore said of the suspect during a press conference Tuesday afternoon. “If he is watching we ask that he contacts a lawyer and turns himself into police.”

Police were able to identify Lozada through a combination of witness interviews and surveillance camera footage, according to Whittemore.

Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward as they continue their investigation.

“It was a fairly violent altercation, there were lots of people involved in the fight and we know from video that there are lots of people walking around,” Whittemore said. “We are asking those people to come forward. You may have only seen two seconds of the incident but that two seconds could be very important to our investigation.”

Police are also looking for two men, who go by the nicknames “Yoda” and “Munchies,” who are believed to have been present at the scene.

The men are described as persons of interests.
