Toronto police are investigating a bizarre robbery at a Scarborough convenience store that occurred early Saturday morning.

According to police, the thieves drove through the front window of MH Convenience store, in the Finch Avenue East and Warden Avenue area.

Once inside, the suspects loaded their van with some $3,000 worth of goods including phone cards and a cash register, before driving off.

Earlier reports suggested an automated banking machine was also taken, but this was later proved false.

The van was found a few blocks away.

Police were unable to say if the suspects escaped in a second vehicle.

The robbery caused an estimated $10,000 in damage.
