Police are searching for a suspect after a 45-year-old contractor suffered a head injury Monday night during a robbery in North York.

Police say it happened at approximately 8 p.m. on Westgate Boulevard, near Bathurst Street and Highway 401.

Police say the contractor was working on a house when he was robbed. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police have not confirmed how much the robber stole, but unconfirmed reports suggest it was several thousand dollars.

The suspect left the scene on foot. Police have not provided a description of the suspect.
