York Regional Police say two men have been charged with attempted murder after a fight in the parking lot of a Thornhill restaurant left a victim with a stab wound last month.

Police were called to the area of Bathurst Street north of Steeles Avenue at 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 22 for a report of a fight.

Investigators said an argument occurred between two suspects and a victim which then escalated into a physical fight.

One of the suspects stabbed the victim during the fight and the suspects fled the scene, police said.

A bystander performed first aid on the victim as paramedics rushed to the area.

The victim, a 27-year-old Thornhill man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Aug. 31, a suspect identified as 28-year-old Dmytro Veremenko was arrested in Richmond Hill.

On Thursday, a suspect identified as 45-year-old Gediminas Kevalas was arrested in Richmond Hill.

Both have been charged with one count of attempted murder.

Veremenko will appear in court in Newmarket on Sept. 28, while Kevalas will appear in court on Sept. 20.
