The number of Pokestops at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal have been reduced after Mayor John Tory expressed concern about the large crowd of Pokemon GO players that had been loitering in the area.

The area around the ferry terminal has been inundated by Pokemon GO players in recent weeks due to its nine Pokestops, which allow game players to congregate in real life.

Earlier this month, the crowding prompted the city to ask the game’s developer, Niantic, to remove some of the stops however no action was immediately taken.

That is until Mayor John Tory personally reached out to Niantic CEO John Hanke through email last Friday to make his case.

According to Tory’s office, Hanke replied immediately and put Tory in touch with Niantic’s head of operations.

Following some discussion, the two then came to an agreement to pare the number of Pokestops at the ferry terminal to four from nine, Tory’s office tells CP24.

The excess stops were then removed from the game earlier this week.
