One female pedestrian was killed and another suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a collision in Vaughan, York Regional Police have confirmed.

Police say two vehicles collided, sending one of them into a light pole. The poll fell over and struck the two pedestrains.

The accident occurred on Dufferin Street, just north of Steeles Avenue at around 6 p.m. on Monday.

All three passengers travelling in the vehicles were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The details of the collision are not immediately clear.

The area around the accident has been closed off and police are investigating.
