The parents of a seven-year-old boy who died in a hit-and-run on Highway 401 have issued an emotional plea to the driver to contact authorities.

“Please have the conscience to come forward,” the victim’s tearful mother said Wednesday.

Police said Ajax resident Jacob Favila died after the Honda Odyssey he was in was struck by a Hummer near Dixie Road just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The Honda, which was carrying two adults and three other children, then struck another vehicle.

Favila suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. All other occupants of the Honda were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police say the Hummer, which was a rented vehicle, fled the scene and was later found abandoned near Dixie Road. Police are now looking for the driver.

Favila leaves behind a twin brother.
