TTC Riders who use Pape Station can expect a bit of blip in their commute as the station shuts down for 12 days during the last two weeks of August.

The TTC says the station will be closed from Aug. 19 to Aug. 30 inclusive so that upgrades can be accelerated. No trains will stop at the station during that period, though trains will continue to travel through it.

A number of alternatives will be in place to help people in the area connect to the Bloor-Danforth line.

Riders travelling east to Donlands Station can board an 81 Thorncliffe Park bus across the street from the Pape Station entrance. Riders can go west to Broadview Station by catching a 72 Pape bus at the northwest corner of Danforth Avenue and Pape Avenue. Those same routes will carry passengers back to Pape Station.

A number of bus routes will be affected by the closure:

  • 72 Pape: northbound buses will operate to Broadview Station via Danforth Ave. On its return trip, it will travel north on Broadview Ave., east on Mortimer Ave., then south on Pape Ave. and back to route.
  • 81 Thorncliffe Park: buses will use Donlands Station, via Pape Ave. and Danforth Ave.
  • 25 Don Mills: buses will operate to and from Donlands Station, via Donlands Ave.

The shut-down will allow crews to complete work on the station’s floors, stairs, finishes, ceilings and the new bus waiting area.

The work is part of a larger revamp of the station. Elevators, bike parking and landscaping will be complete in October, while a second exit will be completed by December.

TTC CEO Andy Byford and other TTC managers will be meeting with riders at Pape Station during the afternoon commute Thursday afternoon in order to publicize the closure.

The station will reopen on Aug. 31.
