TORONTO - Electricity prices could be coming down in off-peak hours to help encourage more Ontario residents take advantage of time-of-use pricing.

Premier Dalton McGuinty admits he's been hearing from people who try doing their dishes and laundry late at night but still see increases, not decreases, in their hydro bills.

McGuinty says the government will review electricity rates in off-peak hours to make sure they are low enough to encourage people to change their behaviour.

He says the province has "to make sure the appropriate incentives are in place."

The New Democrats say the $1.5 billion spent to install smart meters has been a dismal failure because no one is getting lower bills.

The Conservatives say it's McGuinty's HST and green energy policies that are making electricity unaffordable.
