Almost a month after a fiery car crash in Scarborough, a 39-year-old single father of three is still recovering in hospital after his car hit a tree and burst into flames.

The crash happened on March 30, in the area of McNicoll and Warden Avenues.

Dennis Bahadur -- a father of three young daughters between the ages of 11 and 16 -- survived the crash after two witnesses pulled him from the burning vehicle. But Bahadur’s injuries were so severe that doctors were forced to amputate both his feet.

Life has completely changed for the Bahadur family since the tragic collision. Bahadur remains heavily sedated in the burn unit at Sunnybrook Hospital while his daughters have moved in with close family friends.

Now, an online fundraising campaign has been started on behalf of the Bahadur family.

It was started by a Darren Dunlop, a good friend of the family, and so far $34,000 has been raised.

“There will be a great need for funds, whether it’s for retro fitting his house, his vehicle or prosthetics,” Dunlop told CTV Toronto.

There is no word yet on when Bahadur will be released from hospital.
