Peel police are investigating two separate shootings in the city, one of which left a man dead after he was celebrating at a birthday party in Brampton, Ont.

Police in Brampton confirmed the shooting happened shortly after 2:30 a.m. at a residence on Salisbury Circle near the intersection of Queen Street East and Kennedy Road.

Const. Jody Dawson told CTV.ca one man was taken to hospital with an unspecified number of gunshot wounds and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Authorities believe the 27-year-old victim and the shooter were attending the same birthday party.  When the party began to die down, an argument erupted between the two men. 

Peel police have charged 22-year-old Andre Dexter Bourne, of Brampton, with second degree murder. He will appear in a Brampton-area court on Monday.

Police in North York are also investigating a shooting that took place on Saturday night in the Don Mills and Sheppard area.

A man in his 20s was shot in the leg when his car was riddled with bullets on Allenbury Gardens around 10:30 p.m.

Police say a fight broke out during a party, which may have sparked the shooting.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The name and age of the victim have not been released and there is no information on any suspects.
