One man is dead after a VIVA transit bus and vehicle collided in Thornhill Thursday morning.

At approximately 7 a.m., a black Ford F150 pickup truck was travelling south on Yonge Street when it veered into the path of the northbound bus, according to York Regional Police.

The collision happened at Yonge Street and Royal Orchard Boulevard.

A 25 year-old man from Thornhill was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yonge Street was temporarily closed between Centre Street and Royal Orchard Boulevard as police investigated the crash. It was reopened shortly before 3:30 p.m.

There were seven people on the VIVA bus, including the bus driver and six passengers. They suffered minor injuries, according to York Regional Police.
