Three people were taken to hospital after sustaining injuries when a boat they were on exploded Saturday afternoon in the Oakville Harbour.

Sgt. Paul Craig from the Halton Police said a boat carrying three passengers on board exploded in Lake Ontario around 3:30 p.m.

At the time the boat was docked at the Oakville Power Boat Club.

An air ambulance was called to the scene to transport a 53-year-old female with serious injuries to Hamilton General Hospital.

Halton Police issued a news release late Saturday to say the woman’s injuries are not life-threatening, and she is listed in stable condition in hospital.

A 56-year-old male passenger, the injured woman’s husband, was also taken to Hamilton General Hospital. He was treated for minor injuries and released.

Another male, 45, was taken to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, where he remained in stable condition Saturday night.

Both Halton Police and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office are investigating. Halton Police said late Saturday that they do not suspect foul play.
