A man and his two children were uninjured when their small plane crashed in a farmer's field near Warminster, Ont. on Sunday.

Police were called to a farmer’s field in Oro-Medonte Township around 4:10 p.m. after a small Cessna aircraft crashed upside down.

Police say Grant Bergstrome, 59, was flying the Cessna with his two children when there was some type of engine failure and he was forced to attempt an emergency landing.

“I couldn’t keep it from rolling,” Bergstrome told CTV Barrie.

“We only had a few fields to choose from and none of them were big enough to land a plane in," he said.

"I hit the ground going a little too fast."

Warminster is about 40 kilometres north of Barrie.
