The brother of former mayor Rob Ford says he is releasing a tell-all book that will “rock” the political and media world.

The book, titled ‘Ford Nation: Two Brothers, One Vision – The True Story of the People’s Mayor’, will supposedly reveal “the truth behind media and politicians” while also telling the “true story, the untold story” about Rob Ford and his family.

Doug Ford, a one-term city councillor in Ward 2 and former mayoral candidate, told reporters outside his mother’s home in Etobicoke that he and and his late brother penned the book prior to Rob’s death in March. The book, which has been in the works for over a year, is due out on shelves on Nov. 22.

He said it will feature “stories that no one in the country has ever heard.”

“For years we’ve heard the media stories, for years we’ve heard the opposition stories, but now we’re able to tell the true story, the untold story, not only of the Ford family but in particular – Rob Ford, the great mayor this country’s ever seen, world renowned. It’s going to be an exciting story,” Ford said.

“This is in Rob’s words, my words, his wife Renata’s words, my mother, Michael – some of the trials and tribulations,” he continued. “We weren’t holding back when Rob had problems about his addiction, that’s in the story, but it’s going to be our story.”

According to a news release by the book’s publisher Harper Collins, the tell-all will chronicle the Ford family history, including the origins of the family company, Deco Labels and Tags, their father’s career in politics, Rob Ford’s controversial time as mayor and his eventual cancer diagnosis.

Doug Ford said repeatedly it will also name reporters who have written “lie after lie after lie” about his brother during his time as mayor of Toronto.

Though he insisted that the book is not a means of revenge against reporters who covered his brother’s crack-smoking controversy in 2013, Ford said it will be “no holds barred” in terms of naming journalists and politicians.

“This is a book that’s going to be calling out people,” he said. “Politicians that were drinking and doing drugs, but they were untouched, they were unscathed.”

Ford said the former mayor was “instrumental” in the inception and process behind the book before his death. He became ill as the book was being written.

“Passages in the book are from Rob’s words directly. He was quite excited about the book,” he said. “I’ve sat down with people from Harper Collins for endless hours, absolutely endless hours. When Rob was barely even able to walk, he came up – that’s how important this book was for him to tell his story – he sat down with the people from Harper Collins.”

Ford said the book will donate all proceeds to a “wide variety of charities.”

“The difference between this book and the other books that came out, the writers from the other books was for personal gain, this is to help people in need, people with cancer,” he said.

Ford added that he remains committed to politics and eventually plans on pursuing some level of office, saying he will announce his plans within a year.

He also confirmed he will tour the country in conjunction with the book’s release.

“We’ll see what happens over the next year but my main focus is to get out there, meet the people right across this country and speak to them, see what’s on their mind, that’s where we get most of our information, it’s from the average person, the average taxpayer,” Ford said.
