Toronto police say they’re investigating the city’s first homicide of 2013 after a 22-year-old man was fatally stabbed outside a bar near York University, just hours into the new year.

The stabbing took place sometime before 5 a.m. outside a bar on Keele Street, just south of Steeles Avenue West. Police said the man suffered at least one stab wound.

Acquaintances drove the man to Humber River Regional Hospital, police said. Shortly after being transported, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police have not identified the victim.

No arrests have been made. The investigation continues.

Toronto saw 54 homicides in 2012, which was four more than 2011.
