Don’t let the sunny skies fool you, Toronto. The city is expected to see some wet weather as we head into the long weekend. Environment Canada is predicting a 40 per cent of showers early Friday evening with a risk of thunderstorms. Temperatures will hit a high of 26 C before dipping down to a low of 16 C.

TRAFFIC

The Toronto-bound lanes of the Burlington Skyway bridge near Hamilton remains closed, after a dump truck hit scaffolding on the bridge and caused "significant structural damage." The lanes will stay closed until engineers determine whether the bridge is safe to reopen – a process that could take days

Niagara-bound lanes remain open.

As an alternate route, the OPP suggest taking Red Hill Valley Parkway to the Lincoln Alexander Parkway to Highway 403 EB, which continues to QEW eastbound towards Toronto.

The Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival Grand Parade kicks off Saturday morning along Lake Shore Boulevard West, between Strachan Avenue and Parkside Drive, and road closures will begin overnight Friday just after midnight.

Truck driver facing impaired driving charges in Burlington Skyway collision

A 34-year-old truck driver from Brampton is facing impaired driving charges after his truck hit scaffolding in a construction zone on the Burlington Skyway Thursday afternoon, causing extensive damage and snarling traffic for hours. Police say three other vehicles, including a transport truck and two cars, were also damaged during the collision.

In a tweet sent Thursday afternoon, Burlington Mayor Rick Goldring said it could take several days before the bridge is reopened.

Man charged after allegedly impersonating teacher at Toronto schools

Toronto police have arrested and charged a man they say visited at least five Toronto schools under the guise of a special needs teacher.

Police say the man claimed to be a certified teacher and worked as a special needs assistant and educational assistant at several local schools including H. A. Halbert Junior Public School, Ionview Public School, Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute, Inglewood Heights Junior Public School, and Centennial Road Junior Public School.

Investigators say the man attended the schools between April 1 and June 5 but was never employed by the Toronto District School Board.
