Alicia Markson, City Hall Reporter, CTV News Toronto

Alicia Markson has been a fixture on Toronto's Number One Newscast for over a decade. When the mega-city was formed, she was chosen to head up the station's new City Hall Bureau. During her time at City Hall, she's covered several major stories, including the MFP computer leasing scandal, the SARS outbreak, West Nile Virus, and the controversial bridge to the island airport.

Alicia has contributed to a number of live special event broadcasts for CTV local and national news, including World Youth Day, the Papal Visit, and the Queen's Golden Jubilee Tour. Having covered the political arena for many years, Alicia plays a significant role in CTV's coverage of federal, provincial, and municipal elections.

Before taking on the City Hall beat, Alicia was a general assignment reporter with CTV News Toronto. Back in 1989, she got her big break as a reporter for Eye On Toronto, a daily consumer-oriented morning show. Alicia studied broadcast journalism and psychology at Ryerson University where she received her Bachelor of Applied Arts in Radio and Television.

Alicia frequently volunteers her time to help many local charities. She lives with her husband Joseph Markson in South Etobicoke.
