Toronto police have released footage from a security camera hoping the public can identify a man seen peering into the windows of an Etobicoke home.

Police said a man was spotted in a backyard in the area of Dixon and Martin Grove Roads last Thursday.

He was seen walking into the backyard at approximately 10:30 p.m. He propped up a ladder belonging to the homeowner against the house and climbed up to look into the bedroom windows.

Police said he fled the scene before officers arrived.

On Wednesday morning, police released video of the incident captured by a home surveillance camera in hopes that the man will be identified.

He has been described as white and unshaven with short, dark hair and a medium build.

Police said they're concerned about his behaviour, and are warning those who live in the area to lock their windows and doors. Tools and ladders should also be locked up when not in use.

Anyone with more information is asked to call police at 416-808-2300, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
