Police have released video stills taken from security camera footage in an appeal for help to identify six suspects in an attack that put a teenager in a coma.

The blurry photos show five of the six people believed to have been involved in an attack on a 17-year-old boy on Aug. 3 at approximately 1:30 a.m.

The teen was approached by a group of six males after he exited a cab on York Street, just south of Queen Street. He was punched and kicked, and one person stomped on the teen's head.

The men were seen fleeing on foot westbound on Richmond Street and Queen Street West, toward University Avenue. Three of them then jumped into a taxi and headed northbound on University.

The victim sustained severe head trauma, causing him to go into a coma. Police have not said whether he is still in the coma.

Police are searching for the group of six, and appealing to any witnesses who have yet to come forward.

Police said five of the men are black and one is white. All six are believed to be between the ages of 18 and 25. Several images of the suspects can be seen on the Toronto Police website.
