A Toronto man and women are facing charges following an investigation into a $3-million fraud case.

Police said that over a four-year span, the pair applied online for more than 100 credit cards using other people's names.

They increased the cards to the maximum available limits, and then went shopping with them at Home Depot.

The cards were used to buy gift cards, appliances, home renovation products and other items between May 2011 and August 2014. To pay, they used the cards or cheques that they ordered with the cards.

Citi Cards Canada Incorporated, the company behind Home Depot credit cards, was defrauded of more than $3 million.

Acting on a search warrant, police searched the home occupied by the two suspects and seized two vehicles and other items as proceeds of crime.

Two suspects were charged with uttering a forged document, obtaining credit by false pretence over $5,000, fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police said the fraud cause is not associated with the recent Home Depot security breach.
