Toronto police are investigating a real estate scam after a Toronto woman was sold a property that didn't exist.

Police said a woman went through Elite Lifestyle Investments LLC to buy a property in Florida in 2012. In 2013, the deal fell apart, but the woman's money was never refunded.

Earlier this year, the woman who purchased the property contacted Florida authorities, who told her she'd been defrauded and there was no record of the property being purchased. Florida police advised her to contact Toronto police, who are currently investigating the case.

She also filed a civil suit, hoping to get back the $120,000 she'd invested. She'd had some money returned, but police say a "significant amount" is still owed.

Two individuals have been identified as having a connection to the fraud case, but charges are pending.

Toronto police believe there are likely more suspects, and are asking any potential victims to contact them at 416-808-4307.
