A man in his 50s has been charged with first-degree murder after his father was found dead in an Oshawa home.

Durham Regional Police were called to a home on Carnaby Crescent in Oshawa at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday. They said they were told there had been an altercation between a father and son who both live at the home, and that the father had been stabbed.

Officers discovered Walter Sollows, 76, unconscious and not breathing. Police performed CPR, and the man was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.

The man's son, 53-year-old Clyde Sollows, was arrested at the home without incident. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing, and members of the Durham Regional Police Forensic Identification Unit returned to the scene on Tuesday to collect further evidence.
