Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after a driver came to a full stop on Hwy. 427 and hurled profanities at a woman and her daughter who were travelling in the car behind his.

On Wednesday, a vehicle carrying three women was travelling in the left lane of Hwy. 427 when another vehicle accelerated behind them and starting flashing its high beam lights.

According to a Facebook post from a woman who was a passenger at the time, their vehicle was travelling approximately 110 km/h in an area where the posted speed limit is 100 km/h.

“I was behind a truck that was going a little bit slower than the rest of traffic so I wanted to pass it on the left,” the female driver, who does not want to be identified, told CTV News Toronto.

“As I moved over, from out of nowhere, this vehicle came up very quickly behind me and was flashing his lights, honking his horn.”

The woman said the vehicle behind her was able to squeeze between her and the truck in front of her where he started “straddling the dividing line” and “tapping his brakes.”

“I tried to back off and slow down a little bit, thinking he’d just take off,” she said.

“But he ended up coming to a complete stop in the left lane on the 427. It absolutely terrified everyone in the car. There were cars coming behind us… it’s a 400 series highway, so it’s not a small highway.”

Video taken by the woman’s daughter shows a man getting out of the vehicle to approach theirs while screaming vulgar profanities through the windshield.

As the first man gets back in the car, a second man gets out of the driver’s side and again starts screaming at the women.

“The video clip that everyone is seeing is of him going back to his car for the second time. His passenger has jumped out now and is yelling at my daughter, who is now videoing at this point, and ends up telling my daughter that he’s going to put his private parts in her mouth,” she said. “It terrified all of us.”

Before getting back in what appears to be the driver’s seat, the man partially pulls down his pants and points at his crotch.

The woman can be heard telling her daughter, “don’t look.”

She believes the only reason the two men eventually took off without hitting her vehicle was because of a third vehicle that pulled up behind her.

“There was a Good Samaritan who pulled up behind me and put on his four-ways to divert traffic, to make sure people knew there were cars stopped in that lane,” she said.

“I honestly believe that they saw the guy that was behind me and maybe they realized they were being videoed and that’s what prevented them from actually hitting us.”

Once the men drove away, the woman said she took the nearest exit off the highway and called 9-1-1.

OPP Staff Sgt. Mike Di Pasquale confirmed to CTV News Toronto that the incident is under investigation but few other details would be made available until Monday.

“For people who are victims (of situations like this), don’t engage with the driver,” he said. “Move off to the shoulder or preferably get off the highway and then call 9-1-1.”

Di Pasquale said investigators are treating the incident as a criminal case and that it’s possible the suspects could face more serious charges than dangerous driving.

The Facebook video of the incident has been viewed over 400,000 times.
