Police have released video of a motorcyclist driving over 180 km/h in a 60 km/h zone who sped away from police in Markham.

According to police, an officer was parked on Warden Avenue, close to Cachet Parkway, on July 31 around 8:20 p.m. when he saw a motorcyclist driving at a high rate of speed.

Police say the officer activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the motorcyclist but was unable to stop the driver. 

The motorcyclist made a U-turn through a red light and sped away from the cruiser, police say.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver. Anyone with information is asked to contact them at 1-866-876-5423, extension 7541.
