HANWELL, N.B. - Police in North Bay, Ont., believe two missing patients from a local mental health facility who pose a threat to public safety were in New Brunswick earlier this week.

Cara Duval, who also goes by Cara Donnelly, and Joseph Pepin did not return to the North Bay Regional Health Centre's Mental Health and Law program after permitted off-unit privileges last Thursday.

North Bay police say they received information the two were in Hanwell just southwest of Fredericton on Tuesday.

Duval is 37, five-foot-one, weighs 117 pounds, has brown eyes and brown shoulder-length hair usually kept in a ponytail.

Pepin, 39, is six-feet, 174 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Police believe the two may be driving Pepin's dark grey 2006 Volkswagen Jetta with Ontario licence plate BRVK449.

Officers say they pose a significant threat to public safety without ongoing monitoring and supervision.

Police are asking the public not to approach them and call 911 immediately if they're seen.
