A 10-year-old girl missing since Friday afternoon has been found safe, Toronto police have confirmed.

The child was last seen in the Torresdale and Steeles avenues area, west of Bathurst Street, at around 3 p.m.

Police had been concerned for her safety.

“She has been found and is safe,” Toronto police Insp. Domenic Sinopoli confirmed at around 10:45 p.m.

Sinopoli said he believed the girl was found at Kipling Station. A Toronto Transit Commission booth operator spotted her, he said.

“How she ended up (there) is unbeknownst to us at this time,” he said.

Sinopoli estimated as many as 50 police officers, along with volunteers from the community, participated in the search.

“When you have a child that’s gone missing, everyone comes together,” he said.

The girl will be reunited with her family shortly, Sinopoli said.
