Police say they believe that two men accused of killing a mother of four in a drive-by shooting Saturday acted out of anger following the death of their friend in the same neighbourhood last year.

Andrea White, 33, was sitting in the garage of her home on Forest Creek Pathway Saturday night when a white SUV drove by and someone fired several shots at her home.

White, a mother of four young children, was rushed inside and eventually died of her injuries.

Police arrested Michael Davani, 21, and Al Bigby, 23, in connection to the shooting. They have been charged with first-degree murder.

Police say the accused had no connection to White or her family.

At a press conference Wednesday evening, police alleged the two suspects fired the fatal shots hours after attending the gravesite of a friend who was murdered in the Forest Creek Pathway neighbourhood last April.

Kwado Mensah, 20, was gunned down on April 27, 2013 following a shooting in the same Grace Hartman Housing Co-op complex where White lived.

Weeks later, police arrested Sheldon Scrubb, 19, in connection with the shooting and charged him with second-degree murder.

Officials say the two suspects in White’s death attended a memorial service for Mensah and then drove through the Forest Creek Pathway area.

Police allege that the two men acted out of anger by discharging their weapon in the same neighbourhood where Mensah was killed.

The police investigation is ongoing.
