Police say a 33-year-old man injured in a serious collision on the QEW in Mississauga on Friday night has died in hospital.

The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of the QEW approaching Hurontario Street at around 11:30 p.m.

According to police, a driver lost control of his vehicle, collided through the centre steel guiderail and ended up in the westbound lanes of the highway, where two vehicles struck the car.

The male driver of the eastbound vehicle was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition but later died, police said.

Police have not released the identity of the victim but say he was a resident of Mississauga.
