WOODSTOCK, Ont. - A man is facing impaired driving charges after police allege a motorist ran a red light and struck a police cruiser in Woodstock, Ont.

Police say the car was travelling at high speed when it entered an intersection on a red light on Friday night and hit an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser.

Woodstock police say the officer in the cruiser was treated at hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the car was not injured.

Police say Jeffery Lajos, 46, of Woodstock, is charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit.

He is due in court Sept. 16.
