Power was knocked out and part of Markham Road was closed Sunday after an elderly male driver took out two hydro poles.
A single vehicle was involved in the crash, which happened around 11:30 a.m., at Markham Road and Blakemanor Boulevard, near Eglinton Avenue East, according to Toronto police.
The elderly male driver was taken to hospital in serious condition and a second person was sent with minor injuries, said Toronto Paramedic Services (TPS). Police later said the driver’s injuries were non-life-threatening.
Toronto Hydro said around noon that 760 customers were without power due the accident.
By 4 p.m., the agency tweeted that power was back on for about half of customers, but that it may not be restored for everyone until later this evening.
