Two people now face charges in connection with the death of a toddler at an unlicensed daycare in 2013.

Two women have been charged with obstructing a police investigation and destroying evidence more than two years after the two-year-old girl was found not breathing at a Vaughan, Ont., daycare.

Eva Ravikovich was found dead at the daycare on July 8, 2013. CPR was performed by paramedics, but she was pronounced dead on scene.

Officers said two people who owned or operated the daycare were arrested and charged without incident on Wednesday. Police initially said the women were charged in connection with an investigation into the death of a nine-month-old baby, but later corrected the statement.

The women have been identified as 49-year-old Olena Panfilova and her daughter, 26-year-old Karina Rabadanova, both residents of Vaughan. The women have been released from police custody and will appear in court in November.

Both women and Panfilova's husband, Ruslan Panfilova, are also on trial in provincial court on accusations that they were running an illegal, unlicensed daycare -- a charge under the Day Nurseries Act.

The investigation is ongoing, and officers ask anyone with more information to contact them at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7865, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
